With approximately 1,000 people moving to Florida daily, here's why the Sunshine State has become a popular place to call home and a go-to vacation spot.

1. Weather

It's called the Sunshine State for a reason! The state of Florida averages about 237 sunny days annually, with hot summers and mild winters which is ideal for those of all ages. Adults don't have to waste time and energy shovelling snow just to get to work each day; elderly individuals don't have to worry about slipping on icy terrain which can cause severe injuries, and active children won't be left to bounce off the walls and can instead get some fresh air without the hassle of bundling up. Not to mention that air conditioning can be three times less expensive than heating depending on location and efficiency, so it saves your pocket as well.

2. Activities

Not only does Florida have amazing weather, but Floridians sure know how to take advantage of it. Needless to say, Florida's beaches surround the state; you can collect a bucket full of precious shells, hitch a ride on a kayak, take your yoga skills to the next level on a paddle board, or just sit back and relax with the sand between your toes. For those who like to take a less sandy approach, there are plenty of wildlife centres, aquariums, and museums to visit, including famous writer Ernest Hemingway's home in Key West! If you're looking for a real thrill, NASCAR holds races and tours frequently throughout the year in Daytona Beach, and the heart of Orlando holds the honour of hosting the places of all things magic and adventure. You guessed it! Disney World and Universal Studios.

3. Food

What would Florida be without its variety of delicious food? The seafood caught from the Gulf of Mexico and in the Atlantic is impeccable, from sustainably- harvested Stone Crab Claws, to famous Conch Fritters, and for a little less of a fishy flair, Florida's locally-grown, sun-washed produce is something for all foodies to enjoy at all times of the day.
