Fort Myers Beach is considered to be a popular tourist attraction for those visiting Southwest Florida, but is it really worth the trip?
Food
Fort Myers Beach is lined with countless places to grab a bite, but don't expect a resort-caliber dining experience. The menu at any restaurant is likely to consist of primarily fried foods, loaded burgers, steamed hot dogs-- carnival food, with a wide selection of alcoholic beverages and ice cream to wash it all down. However, the atmosphere is authentically Floridan: each building is decked out in vivid colours, tropical flowers, tiki masks, surf boards, and live music, leaving visitors and residents truly feeling like they're on vacation.
Accessibility
Since Fort Myers Beach is such a busy attraction, it can be a painstaking war to reach it . The only road that leads it is only one lane going to and from, and not only that, it's always under construction which leads to a traffic jam equivalent to New York City's rush hour. Then, the beach is severely short on parking space, so visitors could be driving around for hours searching for a spot. The best time to visit would be in the summer months when there are fewer visitors. In spite of the trek, there's one key feature of Fort Myers Beach that many other beaches fail to offer: visitors don't have to leave their beloved four-footed friends behind, because dogs are allowed (so long as they're on a leash and picked up for of course). Contrary to what some might think, this rare accessibility doesn't destroy the quality of the beach; as a matter of fact, the sand is spotless from all angles. The whole family can enjoy some fun in the sun without rushing to get back home and let the dog out.
Sunset
One of the primary reasons why people flock to visit Fort Myers beach is for a view of the sunset, and it is breathtaking. Even on cloudier days the sky is painted in a collage of red, orange, purple, and blue, and the beach has lots of surface area to spread out as well as a pier to stand on for a different point of view; this guarantees that no one will ruin that perfect picture. Being able to catch a glimpse of it in August with an ice cream cone in one hand and a furry friend by your side makes the trip worth it.
